Mick Flavin is my favourite lrish Country music singer of all times and still is to this day, he has such a unique style voice that no one shall ever be able to compete against him not in our era anyhow. I grew up listening to Mick ,we are both the same age 73 but I am 6 months older than Mick .GODBLESS Mick ,Mary @ there growing family and grandchildren. Greetings from Phladelphia … I miss Carraroe too … go raibh maith agat. I was happy to read a while ago that Philadelphia Quakers sent a lot of relief to Ireland during the great famine (by a lot I mean, relative to their numbers … the need for relief was so huge it was only a drop in the bucket in the big picture, I suppose). They say the Irish Quakers also did a lot of good during the famine, and nobody ever said they were helping others because they wanted to convert Catholics to their faith. This city was once a great place, full of good people, and it has welcomed many waves of immigrants. But it seems like these days everything is just going to hell everywhere on the planet and there’s hardly any good will left. This song reminds me of quieter times.
